The supergiant Almagest is an interstellar hazard partially blocking the
passage between Tralar and Kolath, two of the New Imperium's main systems.
Since direct flight is impossible, ships must make a mid-journey adjustment
before arriving at their destination. The system has no planets and is
estimated to be in the late stages of life. Sometime in the near future,
Almagest may go supernova, an event that would definitely create hazardous
conditions in the heart of NI space and would require serious adapting
to.
